Frequently asked questions

Do you provide virtual or in person sessions?

Virtual or in-person sessions are available for clients within Virginia. My office is located in North Chesterfield, VA.

Virtual sessions are available to Oklahoma clients.

How long are the sessions?

Most sessions are 50 minutes. However, as needed, additional time can be added. We do offer 90 minute sessions. EMDR Intensive sessions are 3 hours.

How much do your services cost?

The cost of a typical 50 minute psychotherapy session is $175.

Spiritual formation sessions are $100 for a 50 minute session.

EMDR Intensives have their own rate and are not covered by insurance. Please reach out for additional information regarding intensives.

Do you see teens or couples?

Currently, we only provide services to adult individuals. We do not work with kids or teens. We also do not provide couples or family counseling.

Do you accept insurance?

No, we do not accept insurance. We can provide a super bill upon request. We do offer a sliding scale based on need, with limited availability.

EMDR Intensives are not covered by insurance.

How do I prepare for my first session?

All you need to do is ensure that all intake documents and assessments are completed at least 24 hours before your session. Your therapist needs time to go over the documentation prior to your intake appointment.

If your intake documents are not completed 24 hours before your first appointment, your appointment will be canceled and you will need to reschedule. Rescheduling will require advanced payment of that session to reserve the time.

How often do I need to attend therapy?

Weekly sessions are the best option when you first begin. As you progress in your treatment, sessions can be reduced to biweekly.

We understand that for various reasons everyone can't do weekly sessions. In that case, biweekly sessions are offered.

We do not provide once a month counseling, unless you are in the process of being discharged from treatment.

How long will this take?

There are numerous variables that can impact the length of time required to meet your treatment goals. Some of these include your level of participation in the process, your treatment goals, and the complexity of your situation.

Those who are intentional at practicing what they are learning between sessions will decrease the amount of time needed in therapy. Often there is work that needs to be done prior to the work needed to address the treatment goals, this can increase the length of time needed for treatment. This is a topic to discuss with your therapist after the intake session.

What does a session typically look like?

Often people have experienced talk therapy in the past and that's their expectation of the process. While talk therapy has value and is a part of the process at times, sessions at Becoming Whole Counseling and Wellness will include psychoeducation, developing a self-awareness of your body and experiences, and other interactive processes. Our practices require your participation in the difficult work required to move you towards your goals of healing. This work requires feeling and processing painful emotions and experiences. If you are looking specifically for talk therapy, we are not a good fit for you.
