Healing Through Integration
About
Melinda Batalias
Melinda walks alongside her clients, offering guidance and support throughout their healing journeys. She is uniquely equipped to do this work because she has walked this path herself. Having worked through her own extensive trauma history, Melinda’s life reflects God’s redemptive power and grace. Trauma often causes us to measure life by what has been lost. Through healing, however, clients gradually learn to shift their perspective—beginning to notice, celebrate, and appreciate what has been added, while also finding space to grieve their losses. Healing is challenging and requires courage, and Melinda encourages and empowers her clients to embrace the discomfort that accompanies meaningful growth.
Melinda earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from East Carolina University and a Master of Arts in Mathematics Education from Radford University. She spent 30 years teaching high school mathematics in North Carolina and Virginia. Through her own healing journey, Melinda felt called to pursue a second career in counseling. She earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in 2023. Melinda is currently a Resident in Counseling and works in private practice. She is EMDR Basic Trained and is actively working toward EMDR certification. She is also trained in Nature-Informed Therapy and is pursuing certification in that modality as well.
In sessions, Melinda is guided by the Holy Spirit and utilizes an eclectic, integrative approach to foster healing of the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Her therapeutic work commonly incorporates EMDR Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Somatic practices, and Parts Work to support deep integration and lasting change.
Outside of her clinical work, Melinda enjoys weightlifting, running, spending time outdoors, reading, serving at her church, and being with family and friends.
Melinda is supervised by Kathleen Seow, LPC, ATR.

"Growth is rarely an easy process—though plants often make it appear so. We plant seeds, wait, and eventually see beautiful green sprouts emerge. Human growth, however, is neither immediately beautiful nor effortless. True growth is often complex, uncomfortable, and deeply transformative." - Melinda
